An 8-year-old Boy Disappeared Drowning In Ciliwung Current While Swimming With Friends

JAKARTA - A boy named M Diki Firdaus (8) drowned in the flow of the Ciliwung River which is located on Jalan Inspeksi Ciliwung, Tongtek Kampung Pulo, RT 11/03, Kampung Melayu Village, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta, Tuesday, November 28.

The victim drowned while swimming and bathing with Sadam (9) and another friend in the Ciliwung River. The missing victim drowned leaving clothes on the banks of the Ciliwung River.

"The victim is a resident of Jalan Inspeksi Ciliwung RT 12/03, Jatinegara. The victim is 8 years old, a man with the initials DF," said Head of East Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept., Gatot Sulaeman, Tuesday, November 28.

Until now, the victim is still being searched by the joint SAR Team. Officers have conducted a visual search with a radius of 500 meters from where the victim drowned.

"The incident occurred when the victim was swimming with her friend, suddenly the victim drowned," he said.

Currently, the joint SAR team is coordinating with the Manggarai floodgate officers. The search for victims was carried out on Tuesday morning from 08.50 WIB. Gulkarmat Sub-dept. officers deployed 1 rubber boat with 5 personnel.

"The search is still ongoing until the Manggarai floodgates," he said.
