DKI Health Office Ensures Wolbachia Mosquito Bites Are Not Hazardous

JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Health Office (Dinkes) ensures that the bite of the aedes aegypti mosquito with the content of thewolbachia bacteria is not harmful to humans and is environmentally friendly.

"There is no harmful effect on humans. The aedes aegypti mosquito with bisabachia is safe for humans and environmentally friendly," said Head of the Epidemiological Surveillance and Immunization Section of the DKI Jakarta Health Office, Ngabila Salama, Monday, November 27.

The results of the study also showed that bibliography is also safe for other insects.

The way this technology works is that the aedes aegypti mosquito is included in bibliography. Later this bacteria will make the aedes aegypti mosquito no longer able to carry dengue viruses that cause dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF).

"It's just a bentol, like an ordinary kebon mosquito. There are no harmful effects or effects from humans being bitten by aedes aegypti mosquitoes with awolbachia content," Ngabila said as quoted by Antara.

Ngabila said that the population of mosquitoes did not decrease, but they continued to mate with each other and breed, but what was produced was an aedes aegypti mosquito that already contained bifurcatebachia.

Thus, the future DHF case can be reduced to zero cases, even the zero target of death by 2030 according to the World Health Organization (WHO) target can be achieved.

Previously, the DKI Jakarta Health Office ensured that the aedes aegypti mosquito with bisabachia content other than being able to control dengue cases was also safe for humans.

Not only that, Wolbachia will also not reduce the population of mosquitoes and will not use genetic engineering technology. So it will not interfere with other ecosystems and microorganisms.

The Health Office also emphasized that this mosquito technology with funchastic content does not make humans a guinea pig.
