JAKARTA - Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said Indonesia was pushing for the realization of a two-state solution in accordance with the international parameters that had been agreed to end the conflict in Gaza, Palestine.
"There is still a very large homework that we must continue to work on, namely the peace process, the peace process to achieve a two-state solution based on the international parameters that have been agreed upon," said Retno after a working meeting with Commission I of the DPR., Monday, November 27.
However, Retno stressed that the two countries' solution that Indonesia is trying to encourage to end the conflict in Gaza must be based on the international parameters that have been agreed upon.
"So, the two statements also have a coma, based on international parameters that have been agreed because the parameters already exist, have also been ratified by several UN Security Council resolutions, the UN General Assembly which only has to implement, but the process is very difficult," he said.
Foreign Minister Retno said the realization of the two-state solution was a long-term problem that must be pursued to stop the root of conflict problems in Gaza.
"So once again we overcome those who solve it, which are humanitarian issues, humanitarian assistance, thenceasefire (resolution), but the root of the problem is the long term on how the peace process can immediately begin to achieve a two-state solution," he said.
While working on this, continued Retno, Indonesia also encourages humanitarian assistance which is a short-term problem that must be addressed immediately in Gaza.
"The problem of humanitarian assistance and so on is the short term that we have to do now because once again we are chasing with our lives. We have to treat people who are sick, we have to save premature babies, for example. So, we prioritize humanitarian issues first," he said.
