Paulus Waterpauw Leads DPD Golkar West Papua

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Golkar Party DPP Airlangga Hartarto officially inaugurated former Papuan Police Chief Komjen (Ret.) Paulus Waterpauw as Chairman of the West Papua Golkar DPD.

"The Golkar Party is very serious, this is our victory is now or never. Therefore we are working hard and I ask that the winning team be immediately consolidated, prepare witnesses and miss all figures," said Airlangga as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, November 27.

Airlangga's statement was delivered during the inauguration and ratification of the West Papua Golkar Party DPD personnel for the 2020-2025 term of service, in Manokwari, Sunday (26/11) night.

Airlangga said the new management led by Paulus Waterpauw had a big task towards the 2024 election agenda. He invited all cadres of the banyan tree party in West Papua to fight to win all Golkar targets in the election.

He asked Golkar in West Papua to be able to win three seats in the DPR RI, win the presidential and vice presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and lead Paulus Waterpauw to become Governor of West Papua.

Ketum Golkar reminded that the number 4 party in the 2024 General Election is a party that maintains sustainability. According to him, next year will be a historic moment for Golkar, which will turn out to be six decades old or 60 years old.

Airlangga emphasized that this golden momentum must be welcomed by Golkar's victory in the 2024 General Election to become the largest party in the country.

"Immediate consolidation to all districts or villages in the West Papua region. We must be really ready and must win, to ensure the welfare of the community," he said.

The Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs emphasized that Golkar's victory was for the benefit of the people. With victory in the 2024 General Election, Golkar can oversee three commitments to national strategic issues. Namely, economic growth, political stability, and equitable development.

"We won our alumnus Prabowo Subianto, as our president. Paulus Waterpauw is the Governor of West Papua in 2024 too," said Airlangga.

Meanwhile, the former acting governor of West Papua, Paulus Waterpauw, in his speech said he was optimistic that he would be able to win Golkar in the West Papua region. He asked all elements of the party to be serious in facing the Legislative and Regional Head Elections in 2024.

"West Papua's Golkar must ensure that it can win starting from the central level of the DPR RI in three seats, being able to secure the seats of the Provincial and Regency DPRD levels, and also winning the 2024 Pilkada," said Paulus Waterpauw.

The figure who has also served as the North Sumatra Police Chief stated that he was entrusted with leading the Golkar Party in West Papua.

"So this is my big mandate going forward in leading the party. I have to run this party with all of you, especially the management. For the presidential election, we are targeting Prabowo-Gibran to win above 70 percent in West Papua," he said.
