PBNU: Donations And Diplomacy Are More Concrete To Help Palestine

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board KH Ahmad Fahrur Rozi assessed that international humanitarian and diplomatic assistance efforts are the most concrete steps to help the Palestinian people, rather than just a boycott invitation to certain products.

"Providing donations of direct humanitarian assistance and the efforts of the Indonesian government to raise international support at the United Nations so that Israeli attacks are stopped is the most concrete step needed to help ease the burden of the suffering of the Palestinian people," he said in a written statement reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 24.

Gus Fahrur, his nickname, assessed that the boycott was not effective in stopping Israel's military aggression against Gaza, Palestine. He appealed to the Indonesian people to play a direct role in donating humanitarian aid for the Palestinian people according to their respective abilities.

If you are unable to donate, he continued, the community is expected to help by praying that the war will end soon and the Israeli attacks on Palestine will be stopped.

"Hopefully our prayers will be answered by Allah. PBNU itself has specifically ordered its citizens to pray for the billions," said Gus Fahrur.

Regarding the action of inviting a boycott of certain products, Gus Fahrur asked the Indonesian people to be wise in responding to this solidarity action, and not to do anything that could actually harm the Indonesian people themselves.

"The call was only in the form of an appeal to suppress the Israeli economy so that they would stop attacking and recognize Palestinian sovereignty," he said.

Even so, according to Gus Fahrur, people can still use and consume these products that are already labeled halal. "Halal goods are still halal to trade, all that is prohibited is an effort to support pro-ionists," he said.

A similar opinion was also conveyed by the Chairman of the Lazismu Management Board PP Muhammadiyah Ahmad Imam Mujadid Rais who reminded the public to remain wise and careful in responding to the solidarity action of the invitation to boycott certain products.

"Because, we don't know that behind the economic network in one product, it turns out that there are a lot of human resources from our brothers and sisters in the country," he said.
