Tengaran Police Chief AKP Supeno explained the efforts to secure two children from Sampang, East Java, who were riding motorbikes from Madura to Jakarta.
Both were secured while crossing the Semarang Regency, Central Java.
"Secured by officers on Monday morning while riding a motorcycle without a helmet and other equipment," Supeno said in a statement in Semarang, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, November 22.
According to him, two children with the initials MZ (11) and DR (10) were taken to the Tengaran Police Headquarters for questioning. From the information of elementary and MI students, both of them departed from Madura on Sunday, November 19.
"Departing without telling his parents, plans to go to Jakarta to meet his friends," he said.
He said the two were only armed with Rp100,000 in cash and a cell phone for pointed points.
While at the Tengaran Police Headquarters, officers then checked the cell phones of the two children. The cell phone stored the contact number of the school teacher which was then contacted by Tengaran Police officers.
"After the teacher is contacted, then forwarded to the parents of the child," he said.
He explained that the two children were picked up by their respective parents on Monday night to be sent home.
