Case Of PT BSL Employee Confinement In West Kalimantan, Police Name 6 Employees As Suspects

The police have uncovered a case of holding a private company employee in Tapang Perodah Village, Sekadau Hulu District, Sekadau Regency, West Kalimantan (West Kalimantan).

"On Thursday, (16 November 2023) yesterday, members of the Sekadau Hulu Police received information about the confinement, then the joint officers then managed to release five employees who had been held captive. The information we found stated that on November 1, 2023, seven employees fled from PT. BSL. Two of them managed to escape, while five other employees were arrested again by PT. BSL," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sekadau Police, Iptu Rahmad Kartono, in Sekadau, West Kalimantan, Tuesday, November 21, confiscated by Antara.

He explained that the two employees who managed to escape had the initials R from East Java (East Java), and N from West Java (West Java).

Meanwhile, five employees were arrested again, with the initials S from East Java, A from East Java, Y from East Java, I from East Java, and H from Central Java.

"Those arrested were taken back to mes in handcuffs and beaten by the management of PT. BSL. Inside the mes, they were handcuffed and locked from 12.00 WIB to 06.00 WIB," he said.

After that, he continued, they were taken to the pavilion of the PT. BSL and the five employees received violent treatment again with handcuffs and were only released at 18.00 WIB. Their ID cards and cellphones were confiscated by the management, and if they wanted to take them, they had to pay Rp. 6 million.

Rahmad explained that the five employees who had fled were displayed in front of other employees. The company informed other employees not to run away and the five people were used as examples.

When the joint team arrived at the PT. BSL camp, about 38 employees asked for protection from the police, and claimed to have suffered an unnatural salary cut.

"The employees have survived and were then questioned," said Rahmad.

There are six company employees who have been named as suspects in this case, including M, MA, S, R, AG, and AT. The articles suspected are Article 170 (1) of the Criminal Code and or 351 of the Criminal Code.

"A number of evidences have been secured, and this case is in the process of handling the Sekadau Police Criminal Investigation Unit," he said.

In this case, the police are currently coordinating with the Disnaker of Sekadau Regency and Kajari Sekadau to resolve the problems that occurred at PT BSL.
