The Coordinating Ministry For Political, Legal And Security Affairs Predicts ASN Violations Regarding The Neutrality Of The 2024 Election To Increase, Bawaslu Asked To Supervise Extra

JAKARTA - Deputy for Domestic Political Coordination of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs (Kemenkopolhukam) Heri Wiranto said the neutrality of the state civil apparatus (ASN) in the 2024 election should be a concern.

"Based on data on neutrality violations from the State Civil Apparatus Commission (KASN) as of September 2023, 122 ASN were reported, 65 ASN have been proven to have violated and been sanctioned, and 48 ASN have been followed up by staffing officials (PPK) with sanctions imposed in accordance with the level of the problems faced," said Heri in Jakarta, Tuesday, November 21, confiscated by Antara.

Heri explained that during the period from August to October 2023, the General Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) had handled around 11 cases of neutrality violations committed by election organizers.

"This means that it is possible that the increase in neutrality violations will continue to increase. In this case, Bawaslu will certainly act as the election supervisor, it is necessary to increase extra supervision," he said.

In order to realize the success of the 2024 election stages, Heri said that strong synergy and coordination between ministries and non-ministerial government agencies is needed.

"This (synergy) is needed so that the latest issues can be monitored and anticipated properly. So, throughout the campaign period, situations and conditions run safely and peacefully, and there are no divisions or polarizations in society," he said.

The categories of violations of ASN neutrality in elections that are mostly carried out include campaigns or socialization through social media, making uploads, commenting, sharing uploads, liking uploads, and joining groups or accounts for winning election participants.

Then, another type of violation is to provide support to individual candidates (candidates for regional heads or candidates for DPD members) by providing a letter of support or collecting photocopies of ID cards, becoming members and or administrators of political parties, as well as participating in activities or socialization or introduction of political party candidates.
