Head of the West Kalimantan Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Disaster Information Task Force (Satgas) Daniel said 1,242 residents of Meranti Village, Meranti District, Landak Regency, were affected by flooding.
"BPBD Landak is currently conducting assessments around the flood site to identify affected public facilities, while residents are temporarily evacuating independently," said Daniel in Pontianak, quoted from Antara, Sunday, November 19.
The flood, which has occurred since November 16, 2023, hit seven hamlets in Meranti Village which resulted in 359 heads of families or around 1,242 people along with a number of public facilities being affected by flooding.
He mentioned seven hamlets that were hit by floods, namely Seladan Gawak, Seladan, Pelangjau, Meranti Hulu, Meranti Hilir, Moro Behe Tembawang, and Moro Behe 1 hamlets.
"From the Landak BPBD report, there is a cut off bridge that must be immediately coordinated with related parties so that handling is carried out so that traffic or community activities connecting between villages and sub-districts can return to normal," he said.
According to him, the current situation around 14.30 WIB, Sunday (18/11), the flood conditions in Meranti Village have gradually receded. However, Daniel appealed to the public to remain alert to possible aftershocks and always prioritize safety in the event of a natural disaster.
"Hopefully tonight it won't rain so that aftershocks don't occur, we always coordinate with a number of related parties in disaster management efforts in the regions," he said.
