Prosecutors Demand 2 Corruption Defendants Disperindag Dompu 21 Months In Prison

The prosecutors have named criminal charges against two of the three defendants of corruption in the metrological equipment procurement project complete with other facilities and infrastructure at the Dompu Industry and Trade Office, West Nusa Tenggara, for 1 year 9 months or 21 months in prison.

"Ask the panel of judges to sentence the defendant to 1 year and 9 months in prison minus the period of detention that the defendant has served," said Putu Cakra Ari Perwira representing the public prosecutor (JPU) reading out the criminal charges for the first defendant named Iskandar before the panel of judges at the Corruption Court at the Mataram District Court. reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 13.

In addition to the criminal sentence, the prosecutor requested that the panel of judges impose a fine on the former Head of the Trade Division of the Dompu Industry and Trade, worth Rp. 100 million, subsidiary to 6 months in prison.

The prosecutor set such criminal charges by stating that Iskandar's actions had been proven to have violated Article 3 in conjunction with Article 18 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law no. 20 of 2001 jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

The actions that led to the corruption crime were explained by the prosecutor in connection with the emergence of state losses worth Rp. 384 million from the incomplete procurement project work in 2018.

"The defendant as PPTK (technical implementing official of the activity) at that time did not support the government in eradicating corruption, but allowed the procurement of metrological equipment not to be achieved, resulting in state losses," he said.

The prosecutor also sentenced to 21 months in prison for the second defendant, Yanrik, who acted as the executor of the project of Rp1.42 billion from CV Fakrizal.

However, for the criminal fine, the prosecutor determined that it was lower than Iskandar, amounting to Rp50 million, subsidiary to 3 months in prison.

The prosecutor in reading out the charges before the panel of judges also conveyed considerations that eased the sentence of the two defendants, namely that they had never served a criminal sentence and behaved politely during the trial.

Regarding the compensation for state losses, the prosecutor only charged Yanrik with asking him to pay Rp135 million, a subsidiary of 11 months in prison.
