DENPASAR - Bali Police emphasized that police personnel in Bali were neutral in the General Election (Pemilu), especially the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

The Head of Public Relations of the Bali Police, Kombes Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, said that the democratic party for the presidential and vice presidential elections and members of the legislature will be held in 92 days, to be precise on February 14, 2024.

As a security guard in the country, the National Police will be at the forefront of synergizing with the TNI to secure all activities at the 2024 General Election stage.

"The National Police, especially the Bali Police, ensures that they will be neutral in facing the contestation of every stage of the 2024 General Election," he said, Monday, November 3.

The neutrality of the National Police is regulated in Law Number 2 of 2002 concerning the Police. Article 28 paragraph (1) states that the Police must be neutral in political life. In addition, members of the National Police should not be involved in practical political activities.

In addition, the neutral attitude of the National Police in political life, especially the election, is also regulated in detail in Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022.

"We understand that in every stage of the election there is friction between parties that contests so that it has an impact on the circulation of negative issues in the community. In fact, a number of parties take advantage of the moments of several events to spread hoaxes, thus disrupting the conduciveness of security and public trust in the Police," he said.

The Bali Police asked the public not to easily believe the information circulating. It was emphasized that the loyalty of the police, especially the Bali Police to the community and the state was upright in accordance with the mandate of the law.

"The neutrality of the police in the elections, including the regional elections, legislative elections and presidential elections, is the price of death," he said.
