The distribution of rice food assistance in the second phase, revealed by Perum Bulog, North Sumatra Regional Office, namely the September-November 2023 period, was completed before the end of November 2023.

"The third week of November will be finished," said Regional Leader of Bulog Regional Office of North Sumatra Arif Mandu, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, November 11.

Arif continued, currently the process of distributing the second phase of assistance to beneficiary families (KPM) has reached 82.39 percent.

A total of 898,089 KPK received rice assistance from the government in September-November 2023, where each KPM received 10 kilograms of rice per month.

However, specifically in the Nias Islands, each KPM receives assistance for three months at a time or 30 kilograms in one gift because it takes into account the geographical conditions of the area.

As for the distribution, Perum Bulog of the North Sumatra Regional Office cooperates with PT Pos Indonesia Regional I Sumatra.

"After the second phase of the obligation is completed, we are prepared to provide rice assistance in December 2023," said Arif.

He added, for assistance in December 2023, Perum Bulog North Sumatra will still partner with PT Pos Indonesia as the distributor.

Arif also ensured that the number of KPMs receiving assistance in December was the same as the September-November 2023 period.

North Sumatra Bulog ensured that the rice stock was sufficient for the assistance because they would receive more than 45 thousand tons of imported rice by the end of 2023.

The rice added rice stocks in Bulog warehouses to around 31 thousand tons. Not only for food assistance, but the rice is also used for stabilization of Supply and Food Prices (SPHP) and distribution to mills.

Regarding rice food assistance, the government plans to increase the delivery period until June 2024.

One of the government's considerations is to strengthen intervention in controlling rice prices that are still high.
