Sued By TPDI 2.0 With Jokowi And Anwar Usman, KPU Chair Ready To Attend Session Process

JAKARTA - KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari admitted that he had received a trial summons related to a lawsuit filed by the Indonesian Democracy Defenders Team (TPDI) 2.0 against President Joko Widodo, former Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court (MK) Anwar Usman, and the General Election Commission (KPU) who were sued at the Central Jakarta District Court (Jakpus). "The KPU has received a trial call, so later, we will attend the summons later. The trial processes are there, that's all," said Hasyim at the Indonesian Bawaslu Office, Jakarta, Antara, Friday, November 10. Previously, TPDI 2.0 advocate Patra M Zen assessed that President Jokowi, Anwar Usman and Hasyim Asy'ari had committed legal acts by passing Gibran Rakabuming Raka as prospective vice presidential candidates (cawapres) accompanying Prabowo Subianto. In fact, Gibran's registration still uses the old technical rules for registering presidential and vice presidential candidates. Gibran's registration should have been accepted after the revision of the technical rules for registering for presidential and vice-presidential candidates was ratified. For this reason, the KPU should have refused or returned the Gibran registration file submitted on Wednesday, October 25. The General Elections Commission (KPU) has received registration of three pairs of candidates for president and vice president for the 2024 presidential election, namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar, Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md, and Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka. The Anies-Muhaimin pair was promoted by the NasDem Party, the National Awakening Party (PKB), the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), and the Ummah Party. The Ganjar-Mahfud pair was promoted by the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), the United Development Party (PPP), the Indonesian Unity Party (Perindo), and the People's Conscience Party (Hanura). Meanwhile, the Prabowo-Gibran pair was promoted by the Greater Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra), the Golkar Party (Golkar), the National Mandate Party (PAN), the Democratic Party, the Crescent Star Party (PBB), the Indonesian People's Wave Party (Gelora), the Garda Party of the Republic of Indonesia (Garuda), and the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), as well as the People's Fair and Prosperous Party (Prima) who did not qualify to participate in the 2024 General Election.

The General Elections Commission (KPU) has determined that the election campaign period will take place from 28 November 2023 to 10 February 2024, while the voting is scheduled to be held on 14 February 2024.
