KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri: Aceh-Papua Epicentrum Corruption Eradication

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has made Aceh and the eastern tip of Papua the epicenter of eradicating corruption in the country.

"We want to make these two regions (Aceh-Papua) the epicenter of eradicating corruption from the East and from the West," said KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri, in Banda Aceh as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, November 9.

This statement was conveyed by Firli Bahuri on the sidelines of the implementation of the KPK Bus Roadshow and road to Hakordia 2023 at the Meuseuraya Aceh (BMA) Hall, in Banda Aceh.

Firli said that the KPK is currently carrying out activities for the development of anti-corruption culture throughout Indonesia, one of which is through the KPK bus Roadshow.

He said that the spirit of the song from Sabang to Merauke is a determination that the implementation of this year's world anti-corruption day starts from Aceh and Papua.

"The spirit of the song from Sabang to Merauke. So we take it from the Aceh area, we will take it later in Papua," he said.

Therefore, in Hakordia 2023 the KPK takes the theme of being united in eradicating corruption for advanced Indonesia, and its implementation is concentrated in three regions, namely Aceh, Papua, peaked in Jakarta on December 12, 2023.

Firli emphasized that the KPK bus roadshow was an effort to build an anti-corruption culture. However, the KPK still cannot work alone without the community's big role in determining that Indonesia is truly free from corrupt practices.

"Efforts to eradicate corruption do not stop here, because we know corruption is a common enemy. So we do education, prevention and prosecution," said Firli.

In addition to overseas cruise activities, the KPK has now formed anti-corruption counselor groups from all ages of approximately 4,000 people.

Then, integrity development agents are approximately 1,600 people from all over Indonesia. They all become eradication agents through planting anti-corruption values, and building an anti-corruption culture.

"Because actually corruption will never stop without us stopping hand in hand and together, mutual cooperation to eliminate corruption," said Firli Bahuri.
