BMKG: 8 Regencies/Cities In Aceh Potentially Heavy Rain Accompanied By Lightning

MEULABOH - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that eight districts/cities in the Aceh region have the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning for the next few days.

"The potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning is due to the buildup of air masses on the south west coast of Aceh, which is moving from east to west," said BMKG Meulaboh Station forecaster-Nigan Raya Yoga Alma'ruf, in Meulaboh as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 6.

Eight regencies/cities in the southern west coast of Aceh that have the potential for heavy rain accompanied by lightning are Aceh Jaya, West Aceh, Nagan Raya, Southwest Aceh, South Aceh, Simeulue, AcehSingkil, and Subulussalam City.

Based on satellite imagery observations, he said, eight regencies/cities in the southern west coast of Aceh are generally cloudy from morning to noon, and in the afternoon until the evening there is forecast for heavy rain accompanied by lightning.

For this reason, BMKG urges people who are active outside the home or outdoors, especially at night to be aware of potential hydrometeorological disasters such as floods, landslides, and strong winds.
