Government Gives Regional Fiscal Incentives Capable Of Overcoming Inflation

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) and the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu) again gave a fiscal incentive award to regions that were considered capable of controlling the inflation rate.

This award was given directly by the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian and Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani to 34 regions at the Regional Inflation Control Coordination Meeting at the Sasana Bhakti Praja (SBP) Building of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 6.

Tito expressed his gratitude to the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani for providing fiscal incentives to the regions. This award is believed to strengthen the movement and motivate local governments (Pemda) in controlling inflation.

(This incentive) means a lot to colleagues and please others to be able to work to get a prize. This also shows that the issue of inflation must remain the attention of all parties," said Tito.

According to him, President Jokowi strongly pays attention to efforts to control inflation, because inflation is related to meeting people's food needs.

"The people below need their stomach filled, that's the most important thing," said Tito.

The President, said the Minister of Home Affairs, has emphasized that if there are regional heads whose performance is not good in controlling inflation, they will be subject to strict sanctions such as being replaced by other officials.

His party will also consistently evaluate the performance of regional heads.

"So please colleagues for the inflation issue be a concern," said Tito.

Meanwhile, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani said that through the provision of fiscal incentives, it is hoped that the local government can continue to make various efforts to control inflation.

He emphasized that the incentives should be used to continuously improve performance as a form of state presence in the community, so that performance is regulated and measured objectively.

Sri also asked the local government not only to look at the data, but also to take control measures. These efforts can be made through various instruments such as utilizing the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD).

For information, the incentive recipient areas consist of three provinces, six cities, and 25 districts. The recipient areas at the provincial level are South Sulawesi, Gorontalo, and West Sulawesi.

Then at the city level, namely Subulussalam, Tidore Islands, Sibolga, Banjarbaru, Pagar Alam, and Singkawang.

Meanwhile, the areas receiving incentives at the district level include Morotai Island, South Bangka, Kutai Kartanegara, Morowali, Paser, South Sorong, Pohuwato, Banggai, Luwu, Boalemo, Bulungan, Aceh Singkil, West Sumbawa, Pulang Pisau, North Minahasa, Supiori, South Minahasa, Tabalong, Parigi Moutong, Bandung, Landak, Lamongan, Bolaang Mongondow, Banyuwangi, and Pasaman.
