Bring Islamic Organizations Support Anies-Cak Imin, Din Syamsuddin Affirms Not To Build Sektariansme

JAKARTA - Former General Chairperson (Ketum) of PP Muhammadiyah Din Syamsuddin emphasized that his actions in supporting the pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar by bringing a number of high-ranking Islamic organizations does not mean building a secretariatism.

Sektarianism is defined as discrimination or hatred that arises due to differences between groups, such as religious differences.

This was revealed by Din after meeting with the Chairman of the NasDem Party, Surya Paloh, at NasDem Tower. Previously, Din also visited the offices of the PKS and PKB DPPs.

"If we come on behalf of Islamic organizations, it is not for the sake of sectarianistic religion or Islamistism," said Din at NasDem Tower, Central Jakarta, Monday, November 6.

"Muslim organizations and Muslims in general in Indonesia are very medium-minded, moderate, and also Islamic rahmatan lil'alamin. Therefore, there is no need to worry," he continued.

During the meeting, Din asked the coalition party carrying Anies-Cak Imin, namely NasDem, PKS, and PKB to hold the value of pluralism in campaigning.

"I also at the same time appeal to Muslims, there is no need for us to be euphoric, admit, claiming that this is a Muslim couple, although, yes, all pairs are Muslim," said Din.

Continuing, the Secretary General of the NasDem Party, Hermawi Taslim, emphasized that his party would also not implement sectarianism. Given that NasDem has brought Anies to visit people from Aceh to Papua.

"Our spirit is nationality. So, there is no sectarianism. In NasDem there are also many kinds. We have gone through things like that. Now we are talking about a bigger theme on how to bring this nation to catch up, how to bring the nation's children to a wider perspective," explained Hermawi.
