BPOM Investigate The Abuse Of Trihexyphenidyl Hard Drugs In Batam

BATAM - The Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM) in Batam City, Riau Islands, is investigating the misuse of hard drugs,trihexyphenidyl.

"It is true that there were findings. Currently, we are still trying to trace the whereabouts of this drug in Batam," said Head of the Batam POMdi Center Musthofa Anwari as reported by ANTARA, Friday, November 3.

He explained that trihexyphenidy is a strong drug that does not have a distribution permit from the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency.

According to him, taking the hard drug in certain doses can have an effect such as using drugs and can cause addiction.

Musthofa revealed that based on the search results, the drugs were sold through social media platforms.

"So the drugs were ordered online via social media, that's what we are currently investigating," he said.

Efforts to investigate the circulation and abuse oftrihexyphenidyl were carried out in collaboration with the police.

"This drug is still classified as dangerous, it can damage its users. We hope that no one uses the drug, we will continue to monitor the circulation of the drug in Batam," he said.

According to information broadcast on the website of the Directorate General of Health Services at the Ministry of Health,trihexyphenidyl or triheksilfenidil is an anti-oclinergic drug used to treat Parkinson's disorders or movement disorders.

Triheksilfenidil was misused because the antimuskarinik effect was caused by a delirium effect (gong and confusion) and mild sedimentation.

However, excessive use of the drug can pose a danger such as glaukuma and visual impairments, digestive tracts, and urinary tracts.
