Seller Of 5 Grams Of Methamphetamine In Medan Sentenced To 8 Years In Prison

The panel of judges at the Medan District Court, North Sumatra, sentenced the defendant Zikry Robby to eight years in prison in a case of selling 5.27 grams of methamphetamine.

"In addition, the defendant was fined Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to three months in prison," said Chief Judge Dahlia Panjaitan at the Medan District Court (PN), North Sumatra, as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, November 2.

From the facts of the trial, the panel of judges believed that the defendant was found guilty of committing a criminal act of Article 114 paragraph (2) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics.

In essence, said Dahlia, namely without rights or against the law offering to sell, sell, buy, accept, become intermediaries in buying and selling, exchanging or delivering narcotics class I weighing more than five grams, namely 5.27 grams.

"The aggravating thing is that the defendant does not support the government's program in eradicating drugs, while the mitigating factors that relieve the defendant are polite in court, has never been punished and regretted his actions," he said.

After reading the verdict, the public prosecutor, the defendant's legal adviser and the defendant accepted the verdict.

This decision is lighter than the demands of the North Sumatra Attorney General's Office, Erning Kosasih, for nine years in prison, a fine of Rp. 1 billion, subsidiary to six months in prison.

In the indictment, it was revealed that personnel from the North Sumatra Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate received information from the public on Jalan Purwo, Gang Flamboyan Dusun IV Suka Makmur, Deli Tua District, Deli Serdang Regency, who often commits narcotics crimes by selling soap-type narcotics.
