Jokowi: The First Group Of Indonesian Aid To Palestine Was Sent This Week

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo said the first batch of humanitarian assistance from the Indonesian government for victims of the Hamas-Israeli conflict was flown to Palestine this week.

"Indonesia will send humanitarian aid which will be adjusted to the demands and needs of the Palestinian people. The first batch will be delivered this week," Jokowi said after chairing a limited meeting on Palestine at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, as reported by ANTARA, Monday, October 30.

Jokowi said the assistance came from the Government, business actors, and the people of Indonesia.

In a statement made virtually through the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube network, Jokowi stated that Indonesia was very angry with the situation of the Hamas-Israeli conflict which exacerbated the humanitarian situation in Gaza.

"Indonesia is very angry with the worsening situation in Gaza, especially the humanitarian situation," he said.

The Indonesian government also continues to closely follow the development of the situation in Gaza.

Jokowi expressed Indonesia's firm stance which strongly condemns random attacks on civilians and public facilities in Gaza.

He also called for violence against civilians to be stopped immediately.

"Arrests must continue to be pursued," he said.

Jokowi also encouraged the acceleration of humanitarian assistance from Indonesia for victims of the Hamas-Israeli conflict. In addition, communication with many parties also needs to be strengthened to seek to solve the problem.

The agenda for a limited meeting on Palestine was attended by a number of related ministers, including Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi and Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD.
