Puan Regarding Gibran's Status At PDIP After Becoming Prabowo's Vice Presidential Candidate: No Resignation

Chairman of the PDI-P (PDIP) DPP Puan Maharani said there was no letter of resignation as a cadre from Gibran Rakabuming Raka even though he had registered as a vice presidential candidate (cawapres) Prabowo Subianto.

Puan only said that President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi) son had said goodbye to run in the 2024 presidential election.

"There is no (letter, red) resignation," said Puan to reporters at the High End Building, Kebon Sirih, Central Jakarta, Wednesday, October 25.

Instead of talking about Gibran's status in the party bearing the bull symbol after his political move, Puan had said he had met the Mayor of Solo. During the meeting, Gibran had time to say goodbye to Prabowo.

"At that moment, Puan denied the return of the PDIP Membership Card (KTA). "Just saying goodbye to be Mr. Prabowo's vice presidential candidate," he said.

That way, Puan assessed that Gibran was still listed as a cadre. Moreover, he has not joined any party even though Puan highlighted the clothes that Prabowo-Gibran pair wore when they registered with the KPU.

It is known, when registering with the KPU, both of them wore light blue clothes such as those belonging to the Gelora Party in the Advanced Indonesia Coalition (KIM).

"Until now, I haven't seen Mas Gibran joining which party because he only became a vice presidential candidate but didn't wear a yellow, blue shirt, no," said the chairman of the DPR.

"But the clothes for the coalition's light blue clothes were like that," continued Puan.

As previously reported, Prabowo and Gibran officially registered as pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates to the KPU on Wednesday, October 25. They became the last pair to submit files.

Prabowo and Gibran were promoted by the Forward Indonesia Coalition (KIM) consisting of the Gerindra Party, Golkar Party, PAN, Democrat Party, Crescent Star Party (PBB), Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI), Gelora Party, and Prima Party. Also present were the ranks of the National Campaign Team for the Advanced Indonesia Coalition.

Meanwhile, PDIP, the United Development Party (PPP), Perindo, and the Hanura Party carried Ganjar Pranowo and Mahfud MD as pairs of presidential and vice-presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election. Ganjar and Mahfud had already registered on Thursday, October 19.
