TASIKMALAYA - The General Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) of Tasikmalaya City, West Java, regretted the Dewa 19 concert at Wiriadinata Air Base, Tasikmalaya, marked by a campaign by one of the band's personnel, Ahmad Dhani, who conveyed an invitation to elect a legislative candidate at the DPR RI level Mulan Jameela.

"Imagine Ahmad Dhani's attitude and actions at a concert event that invites him to choose one of the candidates," said Acting Chairman of the Tasikmalaya City Bawaslu, Tedi Saepudin, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, October 25.

He said that the Tasikmalaya City Bawaslu had received information about the Dewa 19 music concert and a number of other artists were given an invitation campaign to elect a legislative candidate at Wiriadinata Tasikmalaya Air Base, Saturday night.

The campaign action, he said, should not be carried out by well-known band groups in the crowd, especially the concert activities in the Indonesian Air Force military area.

He conveyed that the Tasikmalaya City Bawaslu had previously made appeals and socialized to every political party and various other activities not to carry out campaigns because it was not yet time.

"Previously, Bawaslu had conveyed an appeal, both in the form of letters to every political party and in various socialization activities," he said.

The existence of the campaign activities, said Tedi, the ranks of the Tasikmalaya City Bawaslu immediately followed up to find out whether or not there was an element of violation in the election.

As a result, he said, the concert activities, which were colored by the campaign, did not find material requirements, then the incident had not yet entered the campaign stage, so Bawaslu could not follow up.

"Bawaslu does not yet have the authority regarding Ahmad Dhani campaigning for Mulan, because this has not yet entered the campaign stage," he said.

He hopes that campaign events outside the election agenda will not happen again in Tasikmalaya City carried out by the community and election participants to maintain a peaceful, calm, and successful election stage.

"Bawaslu appealed to others, be it election participants or teams or the public not to imitate similar actions, so that the incident does not happen again," said Tedi.

Ahmad Dhani is the husband of Mulan Jameela who currently serves as a member of the Indonesian Parliament from the Gerindra Party for the 2019-2024 period.

Mulan, who is a resident of Garut Regency, again ran in the 2024 Legislative Election in the West Java XI electoral district, namely Garut Regency, Tasikmalaya City/Regency.

Mulan Jameela's status as a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives in the 2019 legislative election was marked by rejection by Gerindra Party cadres in Garut Regency because Mulan was a member of the Indonesian House of Representatives by eliminating the names of other elected legislative members who had been appointed by the Indonesian KPU from West Java XI.
