Airvav Indonesia said the fire at the Rawa Cat final disposal site (TPA), Tangerang City, had an impact on aircraft flights because it was located only 2.5 kilometers west of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

"The fire has produced quite thick smoke and affected visibility in the flight landing process at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport," said Airnav Indonesia Corporate Secretary, Hermana Soegijantoro, in a statement, Sunday, October 22.

According to Hermana, in the face of the disruption of smoke from the TPA Rawa Cat fire, the Indonesian Aviation Navigation Service Institute (Perum LPPNPI) has taken mitigation steps by issuing Notice to Airmen (Notam) Number A3092-23.

"Which aims to provide notifications to all flights to maintain safety, security, flight regularity, and reduce potential delays at airports," he said.

In addition to this notification, Airnav has also arranged the arrival and departure of flights to and from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten.

"Considering the direction of smoke, which depends heavily on wind conditions," he said.

To anticipate the number of airlines affected, Airnav has coordinated with the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the CGK Airport meteorological station, to update information regarding wind direction predictions in the next week.

In addition, Airnav has also coordinated the scenario for the operation of water bombing helicopter flights by the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to maintain flight safety, as well as support fire prevention efforts carried out by BNPB.
