AGO Receives SPDP In Rocky Gerung Hoax Case

The Deputy Attorney General for General Crimes (Jampidum) of the Attorney General's Office (AGO) has received a Notice of Investigation Commencement (SPDP) regarding the alleged case of spreading false news related toRocky Gerung (RG) and his friends.

Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office, Ketut Sumedana, said that his party would immediately arrange a team of prosecutors for further handling of cases.

Sumedana said that currently, the Jempidum is still waiting for the delivery of case files from the Criminal Investigation Police investigators regarding formal and material requirements to study.

"This aims to determine whether or not the case file is complete," said Sumedana.

Rocky Gerung and his friends were charged with Article 14 Paragraph (1), Paragraph (2), and/or Article 15 of Law No. 1 of 1946 concerning Criminal Law Regulations.

Then, Article 156 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 160 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 45A Paragraph (2) Jo. Article 28 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 11 Year 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE).

"The lawsuit against the incident that occurred at the Muzdalifah Islamic Hall Building in Bekasi City, West Java, was on July 29, 2023," he explained.

Previously, investigators from the Directorate of General Crimes (Dittipidum) Bareskrim Polri again continued their investigation by asking for clarification from Rocky Gerung.Rockypun has complied with the investigator's summons for clarification regarding the investigation into the alleged hate speech case.

Director of General Crimes (Dirtipidum) of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police Brigadier General Pol. Djuhandhani Rahardjo Puro said his party had prepared 97 questions, 47 of which had been asked during the first examination.

The question is related to several news that the complainant considers to be false, such as about palm oil and China.

"That is the object that it is fake news. Of course this is our material for the process of further investigation," said Djuhandhani.

In this case, Bareskrim Polri received 26 reports reported to the North Sumatra Police, Yogyakarta Police, East Kalimantan Police, West Kalimantan Police, and Polda Metro Jaya.

"All reports have been accommodated at Bareskrim," he said.
