Considered Disturbing, Dozens Of Thugs In Garut Were Arrested Ahead Of The 2024 General Election

GARUT - Police arrested dozens of thugs from a number of urban areas of Garut Regency, West Java (West Java).

Thugs in Garut have been reported to be often troubling and then urine tests are carried out in maintaining public order, so as to create comfort for the people in the area.

"Today's activities are in a series of conditions ahead of the 2024 General Election," said Garut Police Chief AKBP Rohman Yonky Dilatha during an operation to eradicate thuggery, in Garut, Monday, October 16, which was confiscated by Antara.

The joint operation consisted of a number of police personnel, the Transportation Service, Satpol PP, and the Garut Regency Social Service who went directly to search a number of roads in the city of Garut.

The officers secured a number of people who were suspected of being thugs, illegal parking attendants, and also street buskers whose whereabouts had been reported to be quite disturbing to the public.

All the thugs were transported by truck and then taken to the Garut Police Headquarters for data collection on their identity, and urine tests to detect taking illegal drugs or drugs.

The police chief said that in controlling the thugs, the Garut Police worked together with other agencies to work together to overcome the problems of thuggery and other actions that disrupted public security and order in Garut.

Especially now, said the Police Chief, ahead of the implementation of the 2024 election democracy party, must take anticipatory steps by maintaining public order and security.

"For that we feel the need to synergize because there have been many reports from the public regarding acts of thuggery that need continuous handling," he said.

He emphasized that the police and all relevant agencies are ready to take anticipatory steps so that acts of thuggery in Garut do not develop and disturb the comfort of the community.

In addition, he continued, the actions of motorcycle gangs that are troubling the public must be brought under control, the police will not tolerate anyone who violates the law.

"There is no tolerance for acts of thuggery, and if later we will carry out coaching, we also exist from the Social Service to provide guidance," he said.
