Jokowi Prioritizes National Electricity Supply Green Energy Sources

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) prioritizes meeting national electricity needs through a policy of transitioning from fossil energy to green energy.

"Everything related to electricity needs nationally we support, but now we are starting to shift to green energy," Jokowi said on the sidelines of a working visit to Indramayu, West Java, Friday, October 13, which was confiscated by Antara.

The statement also answered Japan's decision to stop funding for the construction of the Indramayu Steam Power Plant (PLTU).

"If there is a PLTU, everything must be super critical, I think the standards at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources knows everything," he said.

Jokowi said that green energy is now prioritized in Indonesia, one of which is the Hydroelectric Power Plant (PLTA) and Solar Power Plant (PLTS) in Citata, Purwakarta, West Java.

"I think West Java has this big, we want to inaugurate it in Cirata," he said.

Reporting from the website of the Directorate General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Cirata hydropower plant is projected to have a capacity of 1,008 MW and Solar Power Plants (PLTS) with a capacity of 1 MWp.

Especially for the Cirata Floating PLTS, it was built through the cooperation between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to supply electricity needs in Java-Bali.

Green energy, which is also prioritized by President Jokowi, is a power plant sourced from wind and geothermal or geothermal energy.
