Regarding SYL's Extortion, Firli Is Said To Still Have The Right To Participate In Handling The Corruption Of The Ministry Of Agriculture

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the KPK, Johanis Tanak, emphasized that KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri has the right to participate in handling the alleged corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture that ensnared former Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo alias SYL. This statement was conveyed by Tanak following the emergence of a discourse so that Firli Bahuri is not involved in handling cases of alleged corruption in the Ministry of Agriculture. This discourse follows the existence of allegations of extortion against SYL by the KPK leadership who is currently being investigated by the Polda Metro Jaya. In the case of alleged corruption in the Ministry of Agriculture, the KPK named three suspects, namely Syahrul Yasin Limpo, Director of Agricultural Equipment, Muhammad Hatta, and Secretary General of the Ministry of Agriculture, Kasdi Subagyono. "As long as the chairman in this case Firli is still the leader, of course, he still has the right and obligation to carry out his duties as the KPK leader. If then the term of office expires, of course he cannot," said Johanis Tanak in his statement, Wednesday, October 11.Tanak emphasized that there is no provision prohibiting Firli Bahuri from being involved in the handling of the case at the KPK. Tanak is also not worried about the alleged extortion by the KPK leadership against SYL. "There is no concern of conflict of interest. I can say there is no evidence," said Tanak. The decision was made after the Sub-Directorate of Corruption at the Ministry was carried out by the Ministry of the Ministry of the Criminal Investigation of the Polda Metro Jaya conducted a case on Friday. He stressed that the KPK did not encounter any obstacles in investigating cases. "There are no obstacles for the leadership to the investigation level, the police are also trying to collect evidence. In addition, Polda Metro Jaya will summon other witnesses to determine the presence of suspects.

Polda Metro Jaya developed this case based on Article 12 e or Article 12B or Article 11 of the Corruption Eradication Law in conjunction with Article 65 of the Criminal Code. Meanwhile, on the other hand, the KPK has named SYL along with two of his subordinates, Muhammad Hatta and Kasdi Subagyono as suspects in the alleged corruption case at the Ministry of Agriculture.
