JAKARTA - Former Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo confirmed that he did not attend the examination as a witness at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) today, Wednesday, October 11. He chose to return home to meet his mother.
"I respect the KPK but allow me to meet my mother in the village first," said Syahrul in a written statement quoted on Wednesday, October 11.
As a follow-up, three representatives of Syahrul's legal team, namely Ervin Lubis, Arianto W Soegio, and Anggi Alwik Siregar will deliver letters to the KPK.
"This morning," said Ervin Lubis in the same statement.
In the letter, it was explained that Syahrul chose to go home because his 88-year-old mother was sick. Even so, Ervin said his client would cooperate.
"Syahrul Yasin Limpo really respects the authority in the KPK investigation and remains committed to cooperatively undergoing this legal process," he said.
"We will coordinate further with investigators regarding the rescheduling time. Hopefully this humanitarian factor can be considered," Ervin continued.
As previously reported, the KPK will examine Syahrul regarding the alleged corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) on Wednesday, October 11. He was examined as a witness to complete the case files of other suspects.
This is the first call for Syahrul at the level of investigating the case. Meanwhile, during the investigation process, he was summoned for questioning.
