Police Hunt For Motorcycle Gangs Terrorized By Makassar Residents With Machetes And Arrows

The motorcycle gang terrorized the residents of Makassar City, South Sulawesi by attacking using sharp machetes and bows. Currently, the police are hunting down five members of the motorcycle gang.

In the CCTV footage, it can be seen that a gang riding a motorbike caught up while swinging a machete at residents, while the other perpetrator fired an arrow on Jalan Onta Lama, Mamajang District, Makassar City, South Sulawesi, early Monday morning, at around 01.37 WITA.

During the attack, two residents were reported to have suffered injuries, namely Herdiasyah alias Dandi and Agung (19). Herdiansyah suffered a tear in the leg of the right heel due to being hit by a machete, while Agung suffered lacerations to the back of his head, lacerations to his right thumb, and abrasions to the back of his left hand.

Police officers had visited the scene of the attack, but the perpetrators had fled.

In the disclosure carried out by the joint apparatus of the Mamajang Police Resmob Unit, assisted by the Rappocini Police Resmob Unit, Makassar Polrestabes, arrested a member of a motorcycle gang that carried out an attack named Ibrahim alias Ibra (20), a resident of Jalan Cilalalang Jaya, Buakana Village, Rappocini District, Makassar City.

However, there was resistance from local residents or family parties when the perpetrator was about to be brought by officers. They claimed that the perpetrator had never committed a crime before. However, after being given an understanding by officers, residents finally gave up that the perpetrators were secured to the police station for questioning.

Meanwhile, the other five perpetrators are still being hunted by the police. The first perpetrator with the other perpetrators was still neighbors, but officers were unable to catch them.

As a result, the officers only secured evidence in the form of a catapult, two arrows, and a motorcycle used during the attack.

The perpetrators and evidence are now being secured at the Mamajang Police Headquarters, Makassar City.

"We really hope that the perpetrators who are on the DPO list will surrender, cooperate with the hope of simplifying the investigation process related to this case," said Mamajang Police Chief, Kompol Sulkarnain, Tuesday, October 10.

Sulkarnain revealed that based on the results of the examination, the perpetrator attacked the residents because of revenge. The perpetrator admitted that his friend had been attacked by residents.

"The motive was a retaliatory attack, the perpetrator's friend was attacked by an unknown person who was allegedly from Jalan Onta," he explained.

For his actions, the perpetrator was charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code with a threat of 7 years in prison.
