Judge Sentenced Defendant Riswansyah Who Brings 35.09 Kg Of Shabu-Shabu In Banjarmasin For Life

BANJARMASIN - Chairman of the Panel of Judges at the Banjarmasin District Court sentenced Riswansyah to life, the defendant carrying 35.09 kilograms (kg) of crystal methamphetamine in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. "Decided that the defendant Riswansyah has been proven convincingly and convincingly to have committed a criminal act of methamphetamine with evidence weighing 35.09 kg and sentenced the defendant to life imprisonment," said Chief Justice Yusrinsyah when reading the verdict quoted from Antara, Tuesday, October 10. The judge stated that there was no mitigating thing for the defendant and agreed with the prosecutor's indictment. Evidence of narcotics was ordered to be destroyed and one box truck and several other pieces of evidence confiscated for the state. Based on this decision, both the defendant who attended the virtual trial from the prison and the public prosecutor (JPU) stated that the panel of judges had given him seven days to think about it. The verdict of the panel of judges was lighter than the demands of the public prosecutor (JPU) who demanded the death penalty against the defendant Riswansyah. In his indictment, the Public Prosecutor stated that the defendant was an international drug network that was proven to have smuggled drugs along with the delivery of basic necessities from East Java to South Kalimantan by sea. The sentence imposed on the defendant is Article 114 paragraph 2 subsidiary to Article 112 paragraph 2 of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics with the demand for the death penalty. Riswansyah was arrested by Sub-Directorate 1 of the South Kalimantan Police's Narcotics Investigation Directorate on January 14, 2023 after the ship he was traveling on arrived at Trisakti Port, Banjarmasin, driving a box truck containing 35.09 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.

Officers followed him into a hotel not far from the port area and made arrests while waiting for orders for the smuggling of drugs.
