Minister Of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo Reportedly Becomes A KPK Suspect, Hasto PDIP Alludes To Karma

Secretary General of the PDI-P (PDIP) Hasto Kristiyanto alluded to karma for those who abuse power for their own interests.

This statement was conveyed in response to the news that the Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Syahrul Yasin Limpo was a suspect in the alleged corruption that was being investigated by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Initially, he said that the PDIP Rakernas IV themed Food Sovereignty for People's Welfare was not made because of that case.

"This handling is related to fertilizer, to infrastructure," Hasto told reporters at JIExpo Kemayoran, Jakarta, quoted on Saturday, September 30.

"But the principle is in the political belief of the PDI struggle, who abuses the trust of the people. Programs that should be for the people but are manipulated for the benefit of themselves or their groups, there are always political karmas," he continued.

Furthermore, Hasto said the theme of food raised in the PDIP Rakernas IV had been prepared for a long time.

"Because President Jokowi has explained the number of reservoirs built, agricultural infrastructure, agricultural mechanization, downstream agriculture, just move quickly," he said.

Previously reported, the KPK raised the status of alleged corruption at the Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) to investigation. Investigators have searched the official residence of Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasin Limpo at Widya Chandra, South Jakarta.

During the search, tens of billions of rupiah and firearms were found in the form of a gun. The KPK said the investigators would analyze the findings of the money for confiscation. Meanwhile, firearms will be taken care of by the police.

As for this case, the anti-corruption commission did not want to talk about the determination of Syahrul as a suspect even though various reports said so. This institution stated that the announcement would be made together with forced detention efforts.
