BEKASI - A number of street vendors (PKL) at Tegal Danas Market, Central Cikarang District, Bekasi Regency, West Java, asked officers to be fair in controlling illegal buildings by not selectively selective.

He and other dismantled stall owners support the efforts made by the local government and are even shown by the cooperative attitude of dismantling and moving merchandise to the available relocation sites.

"If everything is not brought under control, sir. Traders who are now in relocation areas will definitely come forward again (selling on the edge of Jalan Inspeksi Kalimalang) later," he said. Anden admitted that traders who had been put in order and moved to relocation sites were worried about losing customers because they lost strategically on a location compared to traders who were not brought under control.

"If we want it to be dismantled, we will dismantle it all. Close it all. Don't be picky. If we are asked to dismantle it, we will dismantle it, we are cooperative. But why is this not dismantled, right," he said.

The owner of the coffee shop, Dewo, admitted that he was forced to rent an empty land measuring 5x6 meters at the relocation site managed by third parties of IDR 10 million per year for the construction of a kiosk.

"Let's pay rent lightly, I will share it with two sellers of juice and fruit ice. If you are in an old place, you can get at least Rp50-Rp100 thousand in a day. If you don't know now, it's still new and still quiet. If it's still quiet, like it or not, what will you feed, sir, my wife and children," he said.

Dewo stated that this illegal building control activity was not the first time the local government had carried out it through the Bekasi Regency Satpol PP along with joint cross-agency officers.

"Since I sold coffee here, a dozen years ago I have controlled it five times. In the past there had been no place for relocation. A month or two we moved, we moved again because the road widening had not been done," he said.

Head of Bekasi Regency Satpol PP Surya Wijaya said that today's illegal building control activities are in order to enforce regional regulations related to the prohibition of constructing buildings on state-owned land while at the same time supporting the road widening plan at that point.

"Of course we don't have selective slashing, we are still coordinating with related parties following the complaints of a number of traders who feel aggrieved," he said.
