President Jokowi Ensures To Open The XXV PWI Congress In Bandung

JAKARTA - President Jokowi will open the XXV Congress of the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) on Monday, September 25, 2023, in Bandung, West Java.

"Alhamdulillah, the Palace has confirmed the presence of the President on Wednesday (20/9) afternoon," said the General Chair of the Central PWI, Atal Sembiring Depari, on Wednesday afternoon at the Central PWI Secretariat, the Press Council Building, Kebon Sirih.

The XXVPWI Congress in 2023 has been prepared since Sunday (24/9) night, starting with a dinner at the Pakuan Building, the official residence of the Acting Governor of West Java, Bey Kalihi Machmudin.

On Monday morning, a seminar was held at the eL Hotel, where Congress took place, presenting the Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Nezar Patria, Taufan Eko Nugroho Rotosariko, and Agus Sudibyo as speakers.

After the seminar, President Jokowi will officially open Congress. The XXV PWI Congress committee in 2023 has set a schedule for the opening ceremony of the Central PWI Election Congress in accordance with President Jokowi's willingness to time.

"For his willingness, we are very proud. President Jokowi always tries to pay attention to members of the press. He also opened the XXIV PWI Congress in Solo in September 2018, and previously attended the peak event of the 2023 National Press Day (HPN) on February 9 in Medan, North Sumatra," said Atal S. Depari.

Accompanied by the Secretary General of the Central PWI, Mirza Zulhadi, and the Chairman of the XXV PWI Congress Implementing Committee, Marthen SelAMEt Susanto, Atal S. Depari explained that preparations for the implementation of this Congress had reached 90 percent.

"We would like to thank all our committee friends in Jakarta and Bandung who continue to work together to ensure the smooth implementation of this congress," added Atal S. Depari, who was elected as the General Chair of the Central PWI for the 2018-2023 period at the 2018 PWI XXIV Congress in Solo, Central Java.

It is estimated that around 500 journalists from all over Indonesia will attend the Central PWI General Chairperson Election Congress for the 2023-2028 term of service.

There were 105 official congress participants, consisting of 3 administrators from 35 provincial PWI, as well as representatives from 4 new provincial PWI, namely PWI Central Papua, PWI Papua Mountains, PWI South Papua, and PWI Southwest Papua.

Each Provincial PWI is also allowed to send up to 5 observers, along with other administrators as supporters. Invitations have also been submitted to the leadership of the Press Council, representatives of the constituent members of the Press Council, and media leaders.
