The TNI Commander Calls The Preparation Of The Nusantara Defense Strategy Referring To Indonesia's Geographical Conditions

TNI Commander Admiral Yudo Margono said Indonesia needed a special strategy in anticipating various threats and environmental developments.

Yudo conveyed this in his remarks at the national seminar in the context of the TNI's 78th Anniversary with the theme Defense Strategy Nusantara in Central Jakarta. This seminar is also expected to be a solid foundation for the TNI in developing and providing confidence in carrying out its duties in the future.

"The geographical condition of the Indonesian archipelago is a peculiarity that requires a holistic closeness and a system's way of thinking to be able to formulate a strong defense strategy of a dualistic universe. The universe which means it involves all national resources prepared in the main defense components of reserves and supporting components," said Yudo Margono in Jakarta, Wednesday, September 20, confiscated by Antara.

Yudo said that Indonesia is at the intersection of two continents and oceans as well as an abundant source of wealth that causes Indonesia to have strategic and important value in the context of world geopolitical and geostrategic contexts.

"We all realize that Indonesia is an archipelagic country that has a very strategic position as a negsus of world trade. Where 30-40 percent of the world's total trade crosses Indonesia," he said.

Yudo added that the development of science and technology can bring society to globalization and modernization, which not only obscures threats.

According to him, the development of science can also change the ways of dealing with threats to a military country, but also non-military, even hybrids.

"The development of the current strategic environment has shown that the potential for a country's military invasion is still factual. The Russia-Ukraine war is empirical evidence that should be a sign of warning or alarm for us to revive awareness of the importance of defense of a country with the threat of invasion," he said.

He said the threat of war in a country must exist. Therefore, the TNI must have a strategy in anticipating the threat.

"War threats remain. Therefore, the TNI needs to formulate a strategy to deal with potential threats, factual impacts, and become the basis for planning power development in order to anticipate future threats," he said.

This national seminar was attended by all TNI officers in the western, central, eastern regions and online as well as TNI Headquarters, TNI AD, TNI AL, TNI AU, ministries, institutions and non-ministerial, and universities.
