TIMIKA - Papua Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri stated the arrest of five people in Kenyam, Nduga Regency, Papua Mountains because they were indicated to support the armed criminal group (KKB).

"From the reports received, the arrests of the five people were because they had something to do with the KKB because they had provided support so far," Police Chief Inspector General Fakhiri in Timika was quoted as saying by ANTARA, Tuesday, September 19.

When taking action, namely the arrest, it is suspected that there was an excessive action by personnel.

"I have reprimanded the Nduga Police Chief to be professional and asked to meet with the church immediately to convey the real facts so that the case is not used by certain groups or NGOs who criticize the actions of the authorities," hoped Inspector General Fakhiri.

The Papuan Police Chief also asked religious leaders and political figures not to mix complaints about law enforcement actions with issues that were thrown away as if the security forces had taken inappropriate actions.

"Before making the arrest, the police have conducted an investigation regarding the five people arrested," said Papua Police Chief Inspector General Fakhiri.

Five members and sympathizers of the KKB led by Egianus Kogoya who were arrested Monday (18/9) in Kenyam are currently still being investigated by investigators at the Nduga Police Station in Kenyam.
