SULTRA - Baubau City Government (Pemkot) provides technical guidance (bimtek) for more than 1,000 members of community protection (linmas) or sub-district and sub-district security guards who will serve at polling stations (TPS) in the 2024 election.

Mayor of Baubau, La Ode Ahmad Monianse said, this bimtek is in the context of preparing for the 2024 General Election which includes the Pilkda and Presidential Elections.

"Because of this strategic role, we need to increase the capacity of members of the linmas so that every member of Linmas can carry out its role properly and wholeheartedly," Ahmad said in a written statement, in Baubau, Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra), Tuesday, September 12, quoted by Antara.

He explained that one of the important roles of members of the linmas in the 2024 General Election is to assist in maintaining security and order at the TPS. In addition, the distribution of logistics for the 2024 General Election is also an inseparable part of the role of members of the linmas.

According to Ahmad, without guaranteeing a sense of security and peace at TPS, of course it will affect people's desire to exercise their right to vote, which will be very detrimental to all of us.

In addition, said Ahmad, the long-running 2024 election process sometimes creates certain conditions in the environment and even has an impact on conflict.

He said members of the linmas played a role in protecting their environment so that they were always in a conducive and far from conflict during the implementation of the 2024 General Election stage.

For that, he said, every member of the linmas needs to upgrade their knowledge of the democratic party so that they can understand their duties and functions properly and their position during the implementation of the 2024 General Election stages, starting from campaigns, voting to vote calculations.
