JAKARTA - Minister of Administrative Reform and Bureaucratic Reform (Menpan RB) Abdullah Azwar Anas stated that holidays during the 2024 General Election will be regulated in a Presidential Decree (Keppres).

"This, right, it is estimated that on February 14 there will be a presidential and legislative elections. Later it will be regulated with its own Presidential Decree," said Azwar at the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, September 12, which was confiscated by Antara.

Previously, the government had set a national holiday and joint leave in 2024 through a Joint Decree (SKB) of 3 Ministers.

In the SKB 3 the Minister decided on a national holiday and a joint leave of 27 days consisting of 17 national holidays and 10 collective leave days.

Azwar said the government also opened the possibility of giving additional collective leave if the 2024 presidential election occurs in two rounds.

"We also anticipate that if there are two rounds of presidential elections later, it means that it is possible that there will be two additional holidays," he said.

Even so, the Government has not included the 2024 election voting holiday in the Ministerial Decree 3 because it will be regulated in the Presidential Decree.

"If there is a second round, we will make a separate Presidential Decree related to the presidential election, apart from the previous one (national holidays and collective leave). Earlier, it was 10 days (joint leave), if later we add 2 it would mean that 12 would be a total of 29 days. So, including the very long holiday in 2024," he said.

Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy said the determination of national holidays and collective leave in 2023 was intended as a guideline for the community, the economic sector, and the private sector in their activities.

In addition, as a reference for ministries and government institutions in determining the planning of future work programs.
