One Day, We Can Live On Mars

JAKARTA - Planet Mars in the last two centuries has been mapped by astronomers. Starting from a map of mars in 1840 created by Wilhelm Beer and Johann von M Waydler in Germany. It was further developed by Italian astronomer Giovanni Schiaparelli in 1877 that caused an eternal interest in the idea of Mars civilization.

In the past year NASA researchers have spent time simulations in Mars habitat in Texas. NASA has ambitions to land its astronomers on Mars by 2030. Even the European space agency (ESA) is determined to try Earth-Mars' first trip at the end of this year.

To complete the mission to land and live on the planet mars, an accurate and detailed map of the planet is needed regarding weather reports that occur in the area. It is said that researchers at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) realized this dream with their Mars Atlas.

"It carefully combines more than 3,000 high-resolution images collected by the Hope of the United Arab Emirates which has been orbiting Mars since 2021 this team creates beautiful colors from all over the planet," said Dimitra Atri, head of the Mars Research Group at NYUAD as reported by CNN, Saturday, September 9.

Atri explained that on Mars a lot of planes crashed and the planet's atmosphere was so thin that it made it difficult for rockets to slow down. Added Atri, the wind spin on the planet is also very strong which allows it to change the landing track path.

If an investigation fails, then science and resources will disappear on a large scale. But when you send humans, you have to be very careful. Understanding daily and seasonal weather patterns can help researchers identify the safest times and locations to land, said Atri.

Atri said the landing of the plane was one of the challenges that could be overcome with accurate atlas (maps). Meanwhile, the best location for human settlement in terms of landscape, temperature and resources is another challenge.

"Maybe it sounds ridiculous, but maybe in the future it will be very common for people to go to Mars and even live there," said Atri.
