The House Of Representatives Approves The Temporary Ceiling Of The Ministry Of Tourism And Creative Economy In 2024 Of IDR 3.4 Trillion

JAKARTA - Commission X of the House of Representatives approved the interim ceiling of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in the Draft State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (RAPBN) for Fiscal Year (TA) 2024 amounting to IDR 3.416 trillion.

Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy (Menparekraf) Sandiaga Uno said the amount of the ceiling is expected to support the performance target of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in 2024, including an increase in GDP (gross domestic product) contribution by 4.5 percent.

An increase in the value of tourism foreign exchange to 7.38 billion-13.08 billion US dollars, an increase in the number of tourism workers to 22.08 million people, and an increase in the number of foreign tourist visits to 9.5 million-14.3 million visits.

"In addition, an increase in the value of creative economy by Rp1,347 trillion, an increase in the export value of creative products by 27.53 billion US dollars, and an increase in the number of creative workers by 24.70 million people," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Friday, September 8.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy explained that the achievement of these targets or in the sense of accelerating inclusive and sustainable economic transformation in the tourism sector and the creative economy will be carried out through various strategies.

Among other things, strengthening the supply chain and parekraf ecosystem (including inter-institutional relations) to become the leading sector of the Indonesian economy, improving the quality of tourism workforce through reskilling, upskilling, andnewskilling in accordance with competency standards, increasing the implementation of MICE, events, national and international scale festivals as well as long holiday policies and collective leave, and various other strategies.

"Hopefully in 2024 we will be able to bring quality and sustainable tourism," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission X of the DPR, Abdul Fikri Faqih, who acted as chair of the meeting, said that Commission X of the DPR would later convey the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy's interim ceiling to the DPR's Budget Agency for adjustments.

"We have carried out a series of discussions, the results of this working meeting will be sent to the Banggar (Budget Agency) for adjustments. After adjustments are made by Banggar, a working meeting will be held to decide on the definitive ceiling of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy for the 2024 fiscal year," he said.

He also emphasized that the views and inputs that had been conveyed by members of Commission X of the DPR should be a reference in the preparation of policies and programs of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy in the 2024 FY RAPBN.
