Erupsi Gunung Ile Lewotolok NTT Masih Terjadi, Warga Diminta Tinggal 2 Km Dari Puncak

NTT - Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) appealed to tourists and residents living in the Mount Ile Lewotolok area in Lembata Regency not to carry out activities within a two-kilometer radius from the summit.

"People around Mount Ile Lewotolok as well as visitors, climbers, or tourists, should not enter and do not carry out activities within a radius of two kilometers from the center of the mountain's activity," said Ile Lewotolok Volcano Observation Post Observer Stanislaus Ara Kian, from Lewoleba, Lembata Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Thursday, September 7, was confiscated by Antara.

He said Mount Ile Lewotolok is now at the level II or Alert level of activity. In addition, he continued, incandescent lava was still observed around the crater peak. The eruption was still accompanied by roars and weak bangs.

He reminded the people of Lamawolo Village, Lamatokan Village, and Jontona Village to always be aware of the potential threat of danger from lava avalanches/longsoran.

"The public must be aware of hot clouds from the eastern part of the peak / crater of Mount Ile Lewotolok," he said.

To avoid respiratory problems or other health problems caused by volcanic ash, he advised people around the mountain to use mouth and nose protection masks and other equipment to protect their eyes and skin.

Meanwhile, people living around valleys or rivers head up at the top of Mount Ile Lewotolok to always be aware of the potential threat of lava hazards that can occur, especially during the rainy season.

Previously, Mount Ile Lewotolok was re-recorded by an eruption on September 3, 2023 at 19.23 WITA with a incandescent lava eruption radius of 500 meters to the Southeast.

The mountain eruption was recorded on a seismogram with a maximum amplitude of 33.3 mm and a duration of approximately 52 seconds.
