KPU Public Tests 3 PKPU Elections 2024 Including Prohibition Of Campaigns In Places Of Worship

The General Elections Commission (KPU) conducted public trials of three KPU regulations (PKPU) for the 2024 General Election.

"KPU organizes public trials to discuss three draft KPU regulations," said KPU chairman Hasyim Asy'ari as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, September 4.

In the public test, the KPU collaborated with political parties, community civil organizations, Ministries and Institutions to universities.

The three rules are PKPU Number 15 of 2023 concerning Election Campaigns.

The public test was carried out as a consequence of the Constitutional Court's decision Number 65/PUU-XXI/2023. Especially regarding the ban on campaigns in places of worship, then the campaign is allowed at places of education and government facilities.

"The campaign is still being carried out at government educational and facilities, with the permission of the two persons in charge and prohibited from using campaign attributes. Where the KPU rules must be adjusted," he asserted.

Furthermore, said Hasyim, public trials were carried out for the PKPU draft regarding the nomination of general election participants for the president and vice president.

"There are two important things that are discussed, namely the terms of nomination and the terms of the candidate," he said.

Then, public trials were carried out for the PKPU draft on voting and vote counting in the general election.
