PDIP Politician: Anies-Cak Imin Declaration Instead Will Profit Ganjar Pranowo

PDI-P politician Deddy Yevri Sitorus stated that Anies Baswedan and Muhaimin Iskandar's declaration as candidates for vice presidential candidates actually benefits Ganjar Pranowo in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres).

"In my opinion, the PKB decision will actually cause an overflow of votes from the Nahdliyin circles to Ganjar Pranowo to potentially grow," said Deddy at Ganjar Pranowo Volunteer Aspiration House, Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Sunday, September 3.

This belief is strengthened because Ganjar is known to be religious and has good relations with Nahdlatul Ulama or Nahdliyin residents. In fact, Ganjar was well received by NU kiai.

Not only that, he said that Ganjar's wife, Siti Atiqoh Supriyanti, was the son of Akhmad Musodik Supriyadi.

Akhmad Musodik is the son of a kiai in the NU environment in Karanganyar named Kiai Haji Hisyam A. Karim.

"Mas Ganjar is very religious, even his wife is also a child of a kiai who is quite well known in Central Java," he said.

For this reason, Deddy said Ganjar was a complete figure, both as a person and his experience in the field of government.

"He has been a member of the House of Representatives and governor for two terms, which means that he fully controls government issues, budgets, public policies and bureaucracy. Ganjar has a qualified track record as governor in the regional autonomy era, he understands the world of young people, his communication style is polite and close to the people," explained Deddy.

He also added that Ganjar would complete and perfect the work and programs that Pak Jokowi had done.

"They both come from the same ideological womb. On the other hand, Pak Ganjar has different challenges from Pak Jokowi, of course, he will have new programs that are in line with the challenges that will be faced," he concluded.

Based on the schedule set by the General Election Commission (KPU) of the Republic of Indonesia, the registration of prospective presidential and vice presidential candidates is scheduled to start from October 19 to November 25, 2023.

As regulated in Law Number 7 of 2017 concerning General Elections (UU Pemilu), pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates are proposed by political parties or coalitions of political parties participating in the election who meet the requirements for obtaining seats of at least 20 percent of the total number of seats in the DPR or obtaining 25 percent of valid votes nationally in the previous election for members of the DPR.

Currently, there are 575 seats in parliament so that pairs of presidential and vice presidential candidates in the 2024 presidential election must have at least 115 seats in the DPR RI. In addition, candidate pairs can also be promoted by political parties or a combination of political parties participating in the 2019 Election with a total valid vote acquisition of at least 34,992,703 votes.
