Chinese Citizens Still Dominate Foreign Tourist Visits In North Sulawesi

MANADO - The visit of foreign tourists (tourists) in North Sulawesi (North Sulawesi) in December 2020 was still dominated by Chinese citizens.

"Tourists in North Sulawesi are still dominated by 1,466 Chinese citizens or 99.80 percent of the total tourists who come to the Nyiur Melambai area," said Head of Statistics and Distribution of BPS North Sulawesi Matthedy Tenggehi in Manado, North Sulawesi, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, 3 February.

Marthedy said that after China was followed by 2 people from Russia (0.14 percent) and Malaysia with 1 person (0.07 percent).

He said that overall the number of foreign tourists who came to North Sulawesi through the entrance to Sam Ratulangi Airport in December 2020 was 1,469 people or decreased by 7.14 percent compared to November 2020 (mtm). When compared to December 2019, it decreased by 86.33 percent (yoy).

The average length of stay of foreign guests at star-rated hotels in December 2020 reached 1.63 days or did not change compared to November 2020.

Marthedy said the more tourist attractions in North Sulawesi, the number of foreign tourists also increases.
