Alert, BMKG Predicts Thunderstorms In West Java, West Kalimantan, And North Maluku

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) warned that the risk of thunderstorms is expected to fall in DKI Jakarta, West Java, West Kalimantan, and North Maluku on Saturday, April 4.

Meanwhile, the risk of moderate to heavy rain in a number of parts of Indonesia on Saturday includes Aceh, Bangka Belitung, Banten, Gorontalo, Jambi, East Java, South Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, and East Kalimantan.

BMKG Deputy for Meteorology Guswanto in Jakarta Saturday explained that other areas that received similar warnings by BMKG were North Kalimantan, Maluku, Papua, West Papua, Riau, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Central Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, West Sumatra, South Sumatra, and North Sumatra.

BMKG also provides an early warning of the risk of rain in Lampung, as well as strong winds in East Nusa Tenggara.

In addition, BMKG provides weather forecasts in Indonesia, where most areas of light rain or moderate rain during the day. As for Gorontalo, Pontianak, Banjarmasin, thunderstorms are expected at that time.

Kupang is expected to be sunny, while Banda Aceh, Denpasar, Surabaya, Bandar Lamping, Mataram, and Palembang are cloudy.

Mamuju is expected to rain throughout the day, with moderate rain in the afternoon and early morning as well as heavy rain at night.

Most of Indonesia is expected to be cloudy or cloudy at night, but Tarakan and Pekanbaru have thunderstorms.

BMKG Deputy for Meteorology Guswanto also stated that in the next week, BMKG will identify the potential for a significant increase in rainfall, namely in most of Sumatra, western and central Java, parts of Kalimantan and Sulawesi, Maluku and most of Papua.

"The potential for significant rain occurred due to the contribution of Madden Julian Oscillation -MJO - activity, Kelvin Waves and Equatorial Rossby, as well as warm sea level temperature conditions in the waters of the region around Indonesia," said Guswanto.
