JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Information (Kominfo) invites the public to provide input on the Draft Government Regulation regarding Personal Data Protection (RPP PDP).
RPP PDP is known to be a derivative rule of Law (UU) number 27 of 2022 concerning Personal Data Protection (PDP) which has been prepared since the regulation was passed in 2022.
Deputy Minister of Communication and Information, Nezar Patria, said the public could provide input as of August 21 through the website www.pdp.id.
"Against this initial version of the RPP PDP, we also opened public participation in conveying responses, suggestions, or questions through the website www.pdp.id. This platform can be accessed and open to anyone according to the mechanism that has been set by taking into account the protection of personal data," he said in a written statement, Thursday, August 31, which was confiscated by Antara.
Currently, the implementation of the PDP Law is in a transition period for two years before the Law is actually implemented and fully enforced in October 2024.

During this transition period, private data controllers, personal data processors, and other related devices from the public sector are able to be private and asked to study to prepare technical implementations in each institution.
In order for the implementation to be smoother, the government has compiled a PDP RPP which in more detail regulates the mandate of the PDP Law including provisions regarding personal data processing activities, including the disclosure and analysis of personal data. In its creation, RPP PDP involves many parties including cybersecurity experts to stakeholders from various fields.
Now that the discussion is complete at the industrial stage, it is time for the community to also be able to take part in providing input, be it suggestions, questions, and responses through the pdp.id website.
"Kominfo is committed to involving the public in the preparation of the RPP PDP. Its implementation so far involves various experts and academics before the existing draft is prepared for public trials," said Nezar.
In addition to opening input channels, the Ministry of Communication and Information also routinely conducts socialization and education to various elements of society so that the PDP Law and its derivative regulations can be understood properly when implemented.
