Officers Put Out The TNBTS Area Fire In Lumajang

LUMAJANG - Officers from the joint team continue to make efforts to extinguish forest fires in Ranupani Village, which is the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park (TNBTS) area in Lumajang Regency, East Java.

"The forest fire in the TNBTS Resort Ranupani area in Bantengan Hamlet, Ranupani Village, Senduro District, has occurred again and it is estimated that the fire has spread around 04.00 WIB," said Lumajang Regency BPBD officer Nur Cahyo as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 30.

It is suspected that forest fires in the TNBTS area were due to the long dry season and friction between drying plants, causing fires.

"The Ranupani TNBTS Resort team has carried out initial handling by making fire barriers and extinguishing the manual using wet branches. These efforts have not been able to extinguish the fire, and even have the potential to spread further," he said.

He said the hotspots in Ledok had been extinguished and the fire began to lead to the alternative Ranupani - Argosari route and the information entered the Lumajang Regency BPBD TRC Team, so that a number of personnel went straight to the fire point.

"The TRC BPBD of Lumajang Regency arrived at the location of the fire to help extinguish the fire, but the efforts made were still unsuccessful, so the blackout continued," he said.

Nur explained that the fire was still big and the wind was blowing hard around the Bantengan.

Meanwhile, TNBTS Administrative Section Head Septa Eka Wardhani said based on information from the public to TNBTS Center officers on Tuesday (29/8) at around 23.30 WIB, there was a hotspot in Bantengan (around the resort border of PTN Coba Trisula area and PTN resort Ranupani Region).

"Furthermore, the officers followed up by conducting direct checks and confirming the presence of a source of fire on the north side of Jalan Malang-Lumajang, and spread to savana and block Jemplang," he said.
