JAMBI - Sub-Directorate V Cyber Crime of the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the Jambi Police revealed a criminal case of data manipulation carried out through social media.
"The perpetrator, who was arrested by the Sub-Directorate V Cyber Crime of the Jambi Police, manipulated the data as if it were authentic with the original," said Head of Sub-Directorate V Cyber Crime of the Jambi Police Ditreskrimsus Kompol Andi Purwanto, quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, August 30.
He said the perpetrator with the initials MZ was arrested in early August 2023. Andi said the mode of operation the perpetrator carried out by making fake social media accounts as if they belonged to the victim.

Andi ran the perpetrator using a photo profile of the victim and it was as if the Instagram account belonged to the victim and made a "post" using the victim's photo together with his friend who was a witness to this case.
Andi Purwanto explained that the victim's loss, in this case, was an "immaterial" because he felt humiliated in public, while the victim already had a family.

The evidence that was secured from the hands of the perpetrators was a cellphone and four screenshot prints of the perpetrator's Instagram profile were made to manipulate the victim's data.
The alleged article against the perpetrators is Article 51 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 35 of Law Number 19 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law Number 11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (data manipulation) with a maximum penalty of 12 years in prison.
"Currently, the perpetrator has been detained at the Jambi Police Detention Center," he said.
Currently, the police are still investigating the motive for the perpetrator to commit the act.
