Jayapura Prosecutor's Office Names Head Of Mamberamo Raya Transportation Agency For Corruption Suspects

JAYAPURA - The Jayapura District Attorney (Kejari) has named the Head of the Mamberamo Raya Regency Transportation Service with the initials JW as a suspect in the alleged corruption case in the construction of the Tebadi Pier in the district.

Kajari Jayapura Alexander Sinuraya explained that the construction of the Teba Pier, which is budgeted for through the Mamberamo Raya Regency APBD for Fiscal Year 2021 worth IDR 3.1 billion, was not carried out even though the absorption of budget expenditures had reached 75 percent.

"From the Rp3.1 billion budget, which was disbursed amounted to Rp2.4 billion," said Alexander. Then, after the calculation, he continued, it was recorded that the state lost Rp1.9 billion after deducting taxes.

Alexander said the suspect JW was a budget user as well as a commitment-making official (PPK) in the project. Until now, the Jayapura Kejari has asked for information from 15 witnesses.

The Jayapura Prosecutor's Office will continue to ask for information regarding the flow of funds, considering that the project did not go through a tender process but was directly appointed by the suspect JW.

JW is suspected of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) of Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption.

Teba is one of the districts in Mamberamo Raya Regency which is located on the banks of the Mamberamo river. To reach Teba, it can be reached using small ships or aircraft such as the Cessna plane.
