PDIP Explains 2 Candidates For Former Corruptors To Advance In The 2024 Election

The Secretary General of the PDI-P Hasto Kristiyanto has opened his voice about the two candidates for the legislature of the DPR who are former convicts of corruption or corruption cases running in the 2024 General Election.

Hasto said that his party had selected and considered carefully the PDIP candidates who were registered with the General Elections Commission (KPU).

"So from the PDI-P, we consider it carefully. Those who have had problems with the law in the past, by undergoing a decision action from the crime by correctional institutions, are also asked and processed to become good Indonesian people, who are aware of the law," said Hasto at the PDIP DPP office, Jakarta, reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 28.

According to him, the two former corruption convict candidates have proven good faith by carrying out various lawsuits.

Hasto also gave an example of Rokhmin Da'uri, who was involved in the corruption case of non-bujeter funds from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and was clarified by PDIP.

Hasto assessed that the candidate for the DPR from the PDIP faction from the electoral district (dapil) of West Java II was still very much needed for his contribution. Because, Rokhmin is an expert in the maritime sector

"He is widely accepted among universities, and we also know what really happened to Prof. Rokhmin at that time could not be separated from political aspects," he explained.

He said Rokhmin had been down with the community for a long time. For this reason, Rokhmin's intellectual contribution is still recognized by many parties.

"E intellectual leadership is accepted and contributes to the progress in the blue economy for the future," added Hasto.

To note, Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) highlighted the list of candidates (DCS) for members of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the 2024 General Election released by the KPU. ICW noted that at least 7 DPR candidates with the status of former corruption convicts.

Then, there are three from the NasDem Party, namely Abdillah from the electoral districts of North Sumatra I, Abdullah Puteh from the Aceh II electoral district, and Rahudman Harahap from the electoral district of North Sumatra I.

Then, one from the National Awakening Party (PKB) namely Susno Duadji from the South Sumatra II electoral district. Finally, one from the Golkar Party was Nurdin Halid from the South Sulawesi II electoral district.
