KPK: SIPD Key To Preventing Corruption In Indonesia

JAKARTA - Deputy for Prevention and Monitoring of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Pahala Nainggolan stated that the local government's information system (SIPD) is one of the keys to preventing corruption in Indonesia.

"This SIPD is one of the important breakthroughs in the national strategy of preventing corruption (Stranas PK)," he said in a discussion held by the Merdeka Barat 9 Forum (FMB9) entitled One Corruption Room Close Information System, in Jakarta reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 28.

According to him, SIPD is one of the government's efforts to increase budget transparency and programs in local governments because the system integrates data from various levels of government, from villages to centers that can be monitored at any time.

Pahala explained that SIPD not only connects program planning to financial reports, but also contains financial report data at the lowest to the top, starting from villages, districts, provinces, the Ministry of Home Affairs, to the Ministry of Finance.

"By linking financial reports from all levels of government, the government can see financial conditions more comprehensively," he said.

Prior to the SIPD, he said, each region had its own information system, so this individual system made regional budget management less effective and efficient.

The lack of data integration also makes regional budget oversight more difficult. The community and supervisory agency have difficulty accessing complete and accurate regional budget data and programs," he said.

Pahala said there are still a number of challenges that need to be faced regarding the implementation of SIPD, including the low level of digital literacy in the community.

"The public needs to have an adequate understanding of how to use SIPD to access budget data and regional programs," he said.

In addition, said Pahala, the government also needs to strengthen the internal surveillance apparatus to ensure that regional budgets and programs are implemented effectively and efficiently.
